Wal Mart Crime

A study has been conducted of crime at Walmart stores and people want to understand why they are more likely to be jacked at Walmart than other places.

We have checked with our panel of experts and the answer is: Walmart is ghetto. Back in the day it used to just be mega store near the ghetto, now it is the ghetto.

The University of Florida has a Loss Prevention dept that studies the industry, if you would like to see the one they did about this story click here.

Theft in Spain

Our favorite evil empire (Tyco) is working on source tagging lingerie in Spain. ADT and Grupo Cortefiel have teamed up to establish source tagging in a well known lingerie chain. Read more

The goal is to save time and money as well as allow employees to focus on their jobs. The questions is: will the cost of one time use tags = savings or disaster? If you source with a label it should only cost you a few cents per tag, but those labels can ripped out in the store. If you tag your merchandise with visible source hard tag it can very costly.

By using source tags are you freeing up your employees to focus on their job or just giving them more time to goof off? Everyone has been in a store where you can see the sales staff doing anything but their job; there are 5 employees standing around not helping customers and you have to approach them just to buy something.

Sensormatic LE label vs. The Ultrastrip DR

What is the difference between the Sensormatic UltraStrip DR label and the LE ultramax label?

The Ultra-Strip Dr is the newer version of the LE label. Do not be too concerned with the name, regardless of whether you call it the UltraStrip or the Ultra-Max labels your retail security specialist should know what you are talking about (UltraStrip is the correct name). The main difference is detection range, if your exit is less than 6 feet wide you should not notice a difference. If you have 6+ foot exit then the LE labels will not work for your retail store.

If your are a source tagging for multiple stores/customers always use the Sensormatic DR label.

Do college football team need EAS?

We all know schools need to have Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) in their bookstores, that is a no brainer. But do they need them on their football teams?

If you are the Miami Hurricanes than yes! Larry Coker stole the teams talent, attitude, and hopes of a 2006 national championship.

How could he do all this without one of the staff catching him? Baggy Pants.

Shoplifters just love stuffing their pants
